She had quit smoking so I knew the deterioration was not directly caused from smoking and none of the doctors she was seeing seemed interested in addressing the big question namely, WHY is her emphysema getting worse?

I thought the expensive emphysema medications and emphysema treatments would stop the progression of the disease. I researched emphysema every day and night looking for answers but found nothing for more than 10 months.

I realized the problem later. My research was only locating web sites controlled and/or provided by the pharmaceutical industry. They told how the progression of the disease could not be stopped or cured but could be slowed down by utilizing their drugs.

You may have noticed that as the disease progresses the deterioration accelerates even if you continue using all the prescribed emphysema medications and emphysema treatments. You may have also realized that when the patient is in Stage IV, or "End Stage," the medications and treatments, one-by-one, stop working. This happened to my mother. I did not take my mother off of any medications. When they stopped working, she would not use them.

The drugs provided temporary relief from the emphysema symptoms. Once the drugs wore off she was right back where she had started with no lasting improvement.

They convince you that you did this to yourself and that they are helping extend your life with their expensive medications. I was convinced that my mother and any other emphysema patient would absolutely not survive if all they did was take the prescribed emphysema medications and emphysema treatments.

1. Some of the prescribed medications and emphysema treatments did actually accelerate the progression of the disease.
2. There were supplements that would help establish optimal health.
3. There were other supplements that would restore a compromised immune system.
4. There were still other supplements that would amplify the immune response and help the body kill any pathogens.
5. There were medications that were not being used in the treatment of emphysema that would actually help rid the body of the disease.
6. With the proper documentation I managed to convince a physician to prescribe these medications to my mother. (Details of this documentation are provided in the book)

8. Emphysema is NOT a terminal disease. My mother recovered completely and so have more than 1,100 other patients over the last 2 years.

Don't feel bad if you are having trouble believing that there is a cure for emphysema. I don't know if I would have believed it early on. Once my mother was in End Stage emphysema and was really suffering I would have listened to anyone other than the doctors and the pharmaceutical companies.
